Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) has recently caught the Twitter bug and is busy tweeting celebrity contacts and anyone he can get a reaction from. One exchange with Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger (@arusbridger) about the number of followers he has amassed particularly caught the eye. Rusbridger responded to the post above with the retort: ‘It’s not about the numbers, Piers.’

I came across this on Twitter whilst having lunch: Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger’s lecture today in Australia about social media and its impact on journalism. I retweeted the link and it was almost instantly picked up by a former colleague who was writing a paper on social media for a client and was grateful for his insight. Sort of proved Rusbridger’s point.
