About me

Ben Lowndes

Managing Director (South West) at Social

As a public relations professional, I help organisations communicate well, engage the public and build trusted relationships.

I am Managing Director of Social’s South West office in Bristol, where I’ve worked since moving to this amazing region from Manchester in 2010.

In addition to working for other public relations agencies, I also spent five years in the communications team at the Homes and Communities Agency, a government body now known as Homes England. The HCA supported around half of all of new houses built in the South West during that period.

Before then, I was a journalist. I worked nights on the Sheffield Star, days on its sister paper the Doncaster Star and a couple of years on the Reading Chronicle.

I am one of only a few hundred Chartered CIPR Practitioners in the UK and write regularly about public relations and engagement – on this blog and in national, trade and regional titles.

Pembrokeshire born and bred, I have lived in Sheffield (twice), Australia (various), Reading and Manchester. Today, I live in Wells, Somerset, with my wife, two kids, two cats and two guinea pigs.
